Why should I hire a makeup artist for my wedding?

There are many reasons why hiring a makeup artist is a good idea for your wedding. A makeup artist will help you look and feel your best on your big day! Your makeup artist will also have access to high quality products to ensure your makeup will last all day without you having to purchase them. Most importantly, hiring a makeup artist will help ease any stress you may have on the day of your wedding by pampering you to make sure you enjoy your big day.

How do I book and what is required to save my date?

I do require a retainer fee to be paid and a service agreement to book your wedding date. Your date will not be confirmed until the retainer fee is received. The service agreement is requested to be returned as soon as possible.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Methods of payment I currently accept include cash and e-transfer.

How far in advance should I book makeup?

As the demand of makeup services has increased over the years, I highly recommend securing a makeup artist a year in advance of your wedding. In Newfoundland, the number of professional makeup artists is not high enough to accommodate all bridal parties, so to ensure you have makeup booked, it should be one the list of the first things you should book once securing your wedding date.

Do you offer trials?

I do offer trials. While these are not required, they are highly recommended. I suggest booking a trial 4-6 weeks out from your wedding date. The trial will allow you to talk one-on-one with your makeup artist so that you can decide which look you would like to achieve on your wedding day. It is also important to let your artist know if you experience any allergies or reactions to products so you don't have any issues on your wedding day. Trials are only available to brides. Trials are the same cost as a regular makeover.

Where are you located?

I am located in St. John's, Newfoundland.

Do you travel?

Yes. I am a mobile makeup artist, however I do not offer my services across all of Newfoundland and Labrador. I only travel to specific areas on the island. For further information on where these areas are, feel free to email me. Travel does come with a fee, as well as any other fees that are required to get to the location are charged to the client. This includes ferry fees, parking, accommodation, etc.

How long does a makeover take?

Each makeover is unique, however I allot 45 minutes to an hour per makeover. The timing depends on how intense or natural a client would like the final look to be. In cases where there is a short period of time allotted on your wedding day, your artist will try to find an assistant to help out. For trials, I book for 1.5 hours. This ensures that we have time to chat about everything and get to know each other.

Do you offer any other services?

The Perfect Palette - Makeup Artistry only offers makeup services at this time. If you would like any recommendations on who you should contact for hair or any other services, please email or message me on Facebook. Makeovers do include a skin prep to ensure your makeup sits well on your skin and to ensure that the makeup lasts all day.

Can I remove people from my Service Agreement if my bridal party changes?

The minimum service headcount I require for weddings in St. John's is 3 people, and 6 for out of town weddings. If you have to remove someone from your booking, please ensure I am notified in writing at least 30 days prior to your wedding date. If this brings your booking below 5 people, no refund or credit is given, it will to still have to be paid before I depart the location.

What if someone wants their makeup done last minute and was not originally booked?

If you would like to add people to your booking, please write me at least 30 days before your booking. Add on clients are not guaranteed as I may have other makeup appointments directly after your booking. If someone chooses they want their makeup done on the same day as wedding day, I will use my discretion to see if I can fit another person in, however this is still not guaranteed. If they are able to be fit in, they will be charged the same price as the regular posted rates.

Do you offer discounts if someone only wants a small amount of makeup applied?

My policies are that any makeover will cost the same regardless of how much product is used on my clients complexion.

How should I prepare for my makeup appointment?

To ensure you are ready for your makeover, here are some tips to keep in mind: -Remove any makeup or skincare on your face so that your artist can start right away. -Stay consistent with your skincare routine for at least 2 months before wedding day. -Have 1-3 inspiration pictures in mind to show your artist so that your artist can reference what your desired look is. -Wear a zip up or button up blouse (or any other article of clothing that does not go over your head) so it is easy to change without messing up your hair and makeup. -Have a lipstick picked out for the wedding day so you can touch up throughout the day. -If you wear contact lenses, have them in before your makeover.

What does my makeup artist need on my wedding day?

-A relatively large table so I can lay my tools and supplies out neatly. -A trashcan if easily accessible. -An outlet for my light. -Ideally in an area where there is not a lot of foot traffic, as the tripod for the light is wide. - Natural light or a room that has good, clear lighting.

Should I get my hair or makeup services first?

From a makeup artist perspective, it does not matter which service you choose to have done first.

What are your safety protocols?

Cleanliness and sanitation is taken very seriously on a regular basis. All brushes, tools and makeup products are sanitized before and between each makeup application. If anybody in your party has any allergies, sensitivities or skin conditions, please let me know as soon as you book. I have clean and sanitized brushes ready to go for each client. New brushes will not come in contact with used brushes to reduce the spread of any germs or bacteria. If there is any sign of infection that may be contagious, I will refuse service. I have disposable wands for mascara, lipstick, and cream products. This will prevent the spread of any infections between clients. In regards to COVID-19, I am taking extra precautions. I have a self-enforced policy where I am required to wear a non-medical face mask during makeovers. If anybody is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 (symptoms include fever, cough, tiredness, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, loss of taste and/or smell), it is highly recommended that they not get their makeup done.
